The Campaign is Live!

It is finally happening: 40k.gg is now open to the public!

If you're discovering this for the first time: 40k.gg is a free, fan-made narrative campaign for Warhammer 40,000. The idea is pretty straightforward: you play your games on the tabletop as usual, report the results here, and your battles actually matter. They shift the balance of power across an entire star system, in real time, alongside every other player doing the same.

What's the story?

Somewhere in the Ultima Segmentum, at the edge of the Cicatrix Maledictum, a long-forgotten system called Morologus Novem has resurfaced. An incompetent Archmagos stumbled upon it by accident, a Rogue Trader swooped in to claim salvage rights before the paperwork was even filed, and now, for unsure reasons, every faction in the galaxy seems to want a piece of it.

That's where you come in. Pick your faction, claim a zone on the interactive 3D map, and fight for it on the tabletop. The campaign doesn't change or add any rules to Warhammer 40,000: think of it as a layer on top of your regular games that gives them weight in a bigger narrative.

If you like your 40k with a good chunk of fluff, the full story (so far) may be of interest to you! There are lots of savoury details that may inspire your, such as witch hunts, vitrified cities, mysterious disappearing shipyards, intrigues between unions and tech priests uncharacteristically buzzing with excitment.

How does it work?

Four steps:

  1. Pick a zone on the map; where you fight matters, so choose wisely.
  2. Invite your opponent with a link or a QR Code.
  3. Play your game on the tabletop, as you normally would.
  4. Report the result: the winner's faction may take control of the zone.

The map updates live. You can watch zones change hands, track faction control over time, and see how the campaign evolves with every game played around the world.

For the full details (zone eligibility, anti-cheat, meta-balancing, and more), check out the Rules page.

Thank you, testers

Before going public, the campaign went through a closed beta with a group of dedicated players who helped shape what 40k.gg is today. Bug reports, feature suggestions, balance feedback, etc. You were fantastic, and some of your ideas (like the party system for coordinated play) made the whole thing way better than what I'd originally planned.

All test data has been wiped clean. The map is a blank slate, every zone is up for grabs (for now)!

Come say hello

The Discord server is the best place to discuss the campaign, plan coordinated offensives with your allies, and stay in the loop as the story unfolds!
