Phew, finally! I started this personal project over two years ago: I wanted to learn how to use WebGL technology, and in the end, it has become a complex stack that supports a much more ambitious idea: to bring to life the principle of "global campaigns" with the means of 2025!

For old-farts like me, the concept might seem familiar and may remind you of the famous Eye of Terror campaign of 2003: every month, White Dwarf magazine reported on the progress of the campaign, which was played all over the world, and for which the players' games influenced the narrative of the entire setting! Some might say that, even if it took 10 years longer than expected, that's exactly what ended up happening (however, "Cadia stands!" 😭)!

Look at how amazing the cover of the 2003 Eye of Terror campaign was!

But why am I talking about this old campaign? Well, because here, even if the impact of 40k.gg would be much more limited than an official event, the principle is fundamentally the same, with modern means: any player could participate, coordinate with their allies to decide on strategies that would make their factions prevail, and the progress of the campaign would influence its narrative and the events that would occur.

This is not a tournament: friends who play regularly in a casual way can participate just as much as competitors. There are no prizes at the end of the campaign. The principle is simply to provide players with a narrative "context" for their games of Warhammer 40,000, with a gripping story and stakes for their armies.

So, when does it start?

Well... I don't know exactly: 40k.gg is still a work in progress, and more specifically in the testing phase. I've been working on it alone, very occasionally, and now I need help to test the features and decide on the narrative campaign itself.

Would you like to contribute?

I would like to surround myself with the following profiles:

  • Testers: to test the app, report bugs to me, and help me make the experience enjoyable and seamless,
  • One or more "game masters": ideally, I would like to "hand over the reins" of the narrative entirely to people with strong literary sensitivity. This is the cornerstone of the entire structure, so ensuring an exciting story for the players is absolutely critical!
  • Translators: when the Eye of Terror campaign was released in 2003, I was young and wouldn't have been able to follow it in English. I would like 40k.gg to also address a young audience that isn't just English-speaking, so that everyone can have fun!

If you are interested, I invite you to contact me on the 40k.gg Discord server: https://discord.gg/f7qHynYUwA

In any case, thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy 40k.gg!
